Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)

Online modes and ways to play

Most Wanted 2005 is the page people mean when they type nfs most wanted online, and it is also the page they confuse with the 2012 reboot. The original game shipped in 2005.

The split I am willing to print

Most Wanted 2005 is the page people mean when they type nfs most wanted online, and it is also the page they confuse with the 2012 reboot. The original game shipped in 2005. EA’s own lobby, up to four players, closed on 1 Aug 2011. What still answers in 2026 are separate community projects: the MWO client, the NFSMW Online browser account, a single-player browser port, and a dezm0n itch port that now 404s. I keep those names apart because mixing them is how people install the wrong thing. NFSMW Online’s October 2026 notes describe desktop and mobile browsers, an Android app, and lite mode on iPhone/iPad and Firefox. These device claims come from the operator. If you own a PC copy, MWO can use it. If you do not, the browser account is the path that does not ask for the disc. Official matchmaking is closed, so “still online” always means one of those projects, not EA.
